‘Please tell me you’re gonna make him wear a dress?” This was my command/response/plead when Rachel told me that my brother, Andrew was going to be one of her bridesmaids. We both started laughing and then I told her I was going to photograph her wedding, she didn’t have a choice;) I’ve known Rachel and her family since we moved across the street from her over 15 years ago. She and my brother became best friends and have supported and been by each other’s sides through all of life’s ups and downs. When Duane came into the picture, he fit right in with their close nit circle of friends. Their late June wedding at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens was stunning. I’ve shot a few weddings in their gardens and it is always so exciting to see how each couple makes the venue their own. An intimate ceremony scented by fresh lavender started the day and the golden light poured through the trees as cocktail hour melted into dinner and dancing. Rachel was such a classic bride in her lace, sheath dress, I’ve never seen her look more beautiful. Duane of course brought the swagger with his tailored tux paired with a beaming grin that I didn’t see leave his face all night. He looked at Rachel with such excitement and adoration throughout the day. It was such a fun evening, full of family and joy, heartfelt speeches and cocktail induced dance moves. Oh ya, and best friends. Enjoy some of my faves!
